How do I get into modelling?

There are many routes into modelling but the simplest and safest is to join a modelling agency.

We have all heard stories of famous models being discovered in unusual ways.

Kate Moss was apparently spotted at an airport, Gisele Bündchen was tucking into a burger at McDonald’s and Naomi Cambell was out shopping!

But these instances are rare and if you don’t want to sit around waiting but are keen to get started then a reputable agency, such as Models Direct, is the place to start!

Furthermore, the discovery stories tend to focus on the high fashion and supermodels and the vast majority of modelling work really isn’t like that at all.

It is about employing real people – of all ages, sizes, backgrounds, looks and body shapes – to pose as other real people for the many adverts, campaigns and promotions we all see every day.

So if you have considered modelling, where should you start?

Well, it is certainly true that you don’t need to have previous experience to join Models Direct, but you do need to feel confident enough to step out in front of a camera.

If you have previous experience, then that is fantastic and we would certainly love to hear from you!

But, if not, then consider what other things you might have done that make you suitable for this kind of paid, part-time work.

Did you enjoy performing in plays at school or college? Do you play a sport or a musical instrument? Do you dance or have another skill?

Again, if none of these applies to you but you still feel you could pose in front of a camera, follow instructions and work well with a film or photography crew and alongside other models, then keep reading!

The next step is to hear what other people think of modelling and to delve a bit deeper to find out more about the clients the agency you are considering works with.

At Models Direct, we always ask our models for feedback and we also highlight just some of the many bookings they attend on our blog pages.

Research is essential when considering how to get into modelling.

Before signing up with any agency, ensure it is a fully vetted and government-accredited employment agency.

If it is not, then you may be running the risk of signing up with an individual or company with no obligation to adhere to the strict rules and regulations that apply to genuine agencies.

Models Direct is a trustworthy, long-standing agency that is inspected and regulated by the government.

Genuine agencies will never guarantee to find work for their models and we are the same.

And once you have filled in our form and sent us some photos one of our professional team members will be in touch to tell you more about how our system works.

But, in essence, our clients come to us with their specific requests, we send them a selection of suitable models matching those requirements and they then make the final choice.

Our process is open, honest and works well for both our models and our clients.

Again, you only have to read the authentic reviews from models who have worked with us to understand this.

Modelling is great fun and a wonderful way to earn a little extra money.

We love to hear from potential female and male models, as well as parents of babies and children.

And, if you do decide to take the first step towards becoming a model, we can answer any questions at all you might have and you can then decide whether or not this is something you or your child might enjoy.
